Early Morning's

I love the solitude of being on a beach in the early hours of the day. Today was no exception. Overcast skies, soft sea breeze and solitude. The papillions and I started our walk in anticipation of finding lots of seaglass. Right away a beautiful, smooth turquoise piece caught my eye. Hmmmmm....very nice, jewelry quality. Now, that's a great start. After getting as far as Fort Story, I notice up ahead my competition...Dang...she made it out very early this morning...AND...her baggie is full of seaglass. Oh well, there's plenty of shoreline for everyone. On the walk back we notice a large bird with a very long beak, in distress. I called the park rangers and they said someone would assist right away. I hope the bird makes it. He seemed very sweet....Off to work I go. This was a great way to start my morning (56 pieces of seaglass)...Happy seaglass hunting..

Nor-easters.....and such...

This morning's walk was brisk, chilly, windy, and little seaglass. Very disappointing....managed to walk to Ft. Story Beach and decided to turn around and head home. The papillions and I only walked 1.5 hours.....I've found from experience that after a northeast wind, the shoreline is scarce of seaglass. It appears that extra sand has built up along the walk; thereby, covering all the gems...I have to work tomorrow (Sunday) so there will be no other opportunity to get out and hunt until next weekend.

Managed to make three pendants this morning. I'm trying to come up with a different design. All of my pendants have my signature curves (replicating the gentle waves that break along the shore)....I'm leaning towards a simpler, cleaner look... I'll try to post pictures soon.

Thank you Lulia's for displaying and selling my pendants. If you get a chance, go by this quaint boutique located in Virginia Beach at Hilltop.

Where oh Where Have I Been?

Haven't been posting on my blog lately due to the fact that I've been spending more time making sea glass jewelry and walking on the beach every chance I can get....Missed last weekend (very unusual for me) ---- My brother, sister-in-law, sister, brother-in-law and myself had a nice "Siblings Night Out" - Had fabulous dinner at Rockafeller's, great conversation, good laughs....Cannot wait to hit the beach early Saturday morning. Two weeks ago I hit the bonanza of sea glass. Got on the beach very early Saturday morning and found every color imaginable (except the coveted "Red") Found a perfect piece of driftwood for displaying my pendants. For those of you in the Virginia Beach area, visit Lulia's Boutique at Hilltop. My pendants are on display at Lulia's. She has a beautiful clothing selection (geared more for the young woman)

I'll be more diligent in postings for the future...Thank you to my loyal followers....

Back in the Saddle

First day back to the beach........still have a cast but at least I can drive and pick up sea glass with the left hand. The papillions and I strolled along the beach early this morning. The sun was shining brightly as we kept our eyes glued to the ground...wow...what a catch. Everywhere we looked there was sea glass. It was insane. I even found yellow....it was such a productive day, but I'm paying for it now..very sore muscles from walking and bending so far...almost made it to the rocks...

N'easter

Forgive me for my lack of posts of late...I'm typing very slowly since taking a fall chasing my dog...my right hand is in a cast...yep..I'm right-handed. Managed to go to three beaches yesterday and today...Today's "catch" was more productive..we figured it out...the storm caused the dunes to fall which in turn covered old sand as well as any sea glass....not much pickens out there yesterday...today was much better...went to Grandview Nature Preserve in Hampton, VA off State Park Road..Had to hike in (ankle deep water) to get to the beach...but what is sea glass hunting without an adventure...busy making pendants out of my glass...will post pictures very soon...

What a Great Fall Morning

I like mornings when the tide is out and we can take our time on our walks...not feel rushed. This morning was not one of those times. We only had an hour and a half at best, so we had to complete our mission on time. Wouldn't you know it. There must have been 4 or 5 lines of shell beds all along the beach. How in the world was I going to check each location out in such a short period of time. I figured it best to start where the waves were breaking due to the tides moving back in...What a great day for sea glass. I could not go two feet without finding a piece or two. Lots of green this morning. A lot of plain white pottery....a little turquoise...one piece of cobalt blue and the rest white and brown....Out of a hundred pieces of glass, I'd say there are 25 pieces that are good quality for jewelry...good finds today....It was interesting because you would think the beach would be desolate so early in the morning. No such luck...other beachcombers checking out the finds...lots of photographers taking family pictures. I guess the season is upon us and those Christmas cards must get out with smiling faces and sand all around...I felt fortunate to find all that I did....we'll see what tomorrow brings...
